Last week was really exciting because I had a cover reveal for my next book over at The Novel Approach! I really love this cover. I think it pretty perfectly encapsulates Life of Bliss, which is sweet, summery, and tropetastic. LC Chase was the cover artist and did an amazing job, as usual!

I have loved perusing so many blogs’ and readers’ best romance of 2017 lists, and I’ve discovered many books to add to my To Be Read list this way. It was also exciting to see Controlled Burn and Life on Pause on a few lists as well!
My reading year has been full of wonderful books by my favorite authors and several new-to-me and debut authors. This year, I also found myself doing huge rereads of some of my go-to authors during times of stress. (I should update my Goodreads bookshelves, but then I’d have to go to Goodreads…)

A little over a year ago—Dec. 7, 2016 to be exact—my life changed. That day, my spouse and I moved into a new house after relocating from Texas to Alaska. Cross-country moves like that are not easy, and it had been a hell of a day.
Moving sucks. I think that’s universal. But it seemed like we’d been putting out fires all day (broken down cars, snow, a lot of furniture and appliances damaged in the move). I was stressed and anxious about living half a country away from literally everyone we knew, and it was really cold outside. (Newsflash, Alaska’s cold, y’all.)
That evening, the editorial director at Riptide Publishing called to inform me they wanted Controlled Burn. I was in shock. My husband cried. It was awesome. And that was just the beginning.

Life on Pause comes out on Oct. 30th. It’s a small town m/m romance about a museum worker and high school choir teacher who bond over sci-fi on Netflix and then fall in love. You can expect a meet-cute, historically accurate costumes, choral music, and sex toys galore….

I’m currently working on the sequel to Life on Pause, which has been really fun to write (it involves a drunk wedding!) and should come out in spring 2018, and the sequel to Controlled Burn, which should come out in late summer 2018. That WIP is about Travis, so if you read Controlled Burn and liked it, Travis is next!

I’m a pretty firm believer in trigger warnings, so now that the ARCs for Controlled Burn are out in the world, I thought it would be a good time to talk about some of the triggering aspects of my debut.
